ShadowDark GM is a personal, non-commercial companion tool. It builds on the ShadowDark RPG and on third-party fonts, art, and software. This page records what it uses and under which terms.
ShadowDark RPG
This application reproduces and derives game mechanics, monster statistics, spells, roll tables, and other rules content from ShadowDark RPG, published by The Arcane Library, LLC (designer: Kelsey Dionne). It is published under the Shadowdark RPG Third-Party License.
Shadowdark RPG © 2023 The Arcane Library, LLC.
Publisher: The Arcane Library. The Shadowdark RPG Third-Party License (most recent version: V1.1) is distributed by the publisher in the core rulebook and Creator Kit.
Not redistributed: This tool does not embed or redistribute the ShadowDark PDFs or their text/layout. Rules-derived data is stored as the app’s own structured data; the source PDFs remain on the operator’s local machine and are indexed only.

The four Google Fonts families are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. The OFL permits bundling and embedding. Its conditions: the fonts may not be sold on their own, any reserved font name must be respected, and the license and copyright notice must travel with the font files if they are redistributed. These families currently load from the Google Fonts CDN rather than being bundled; if they are ever bundled locally for offline use, include each family’s OFL.txt and copyright notice alongside the font files.
Art and Image Assets
Images included within this tool were either created by Kelsey Dionne and The Arcane Library, or generated with AI. The AI-generated art was produced build-time only, on the developer’s machine, using Stability; it is never generated on the running app.
Generated Content
AI was used in the development of some of the images, code, and content used by this application.
Software and Libraries
Built on Node.js and Express, and on a number of open-source libraries used under their respective permissive licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, ISC, and BSD-family). The local PDFs are indexed at build time, not at request time.
